Valtrex is a brand name of the generic anti-viral drug, Valacylovir. It is a prescription drug used in treating infections caused by particular types of viruses in both adults and children.
This drug is a popular medicine used to treat cold sores in children of at least 12 years or older, which are caused by a virus called herpes simplex. It is also a popular medicine used to combat chicken pox caused by a virus called varicella zoster on children who are at least 2 years old.
